Northern Corridor Economic Region

NCIA

Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (“NCIA”) held its inaugural meeting chaired by the Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi on 3 July 2008. NCIA is the statutory body tasked and empowered to establish direction, policies and strategies in relation to the development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (“NCER”) and implementing strategic initiatives in the region.

The NCER concept was launched on 30 July 2007.  Subsequently, NCIA which has been gazetted on 13 June 2008 undertook the task to execute and implement initiatives of the NCER Master Plan which was prepared by SIME DARBY MALAYSIA.

The composition of the membership of the Authority are as follows:

  1. YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi – Prime Minister
  2. YAB Dato’ Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak – Deputy Prime Minister
  3. YAB Dato’ Seri Azizan bin Abdul Razak – Menteri Besar Kedah
  4. YAB Dato’ Seri Ir. Haji Mohammad Nizar bin Jamaluddin – Menteri Besar Perak
  5. YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Md Isa bin Sabu – Menteri Besar Perlis
  6. YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng – Chief Minister of Penang
  7. YB Tan Sri Nor Mohamed bin Yakcop – Finance Minister II
  8. YB Senator Tan Sri Amirsham bin A. Aziz – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department
  9. YBhg Tan Sri Mohd. Sidek bin Hj. Hassan – Chief Secretary to the Government
  10. YBhg Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zubir bin Murshid – President & Chief Executive of Sime Darby Berhad
