NCER has experienced a remarkable socioeconomic evolution since its establishment.
Catalytic projects and programmes carried out in the region generated new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the rakyat. These are supported by human capital programmes that create a strong talent base to meet industry demands.
Infrastructure within NCER has been enhanced to support connectivity and growth, while its business ecosystem is further nurtured and developed to address the needs of private investors.
NCER’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose to RM215 billion in 2018, up 10.3% from 2016, while mean household income rose 9.2% from 2016 to RM5,953 in 2018. Cumulative investments surged to RM96.7 billion in 2018 from RM79.9 billion in 2016, which resulted in nearly 120,000 new jobs and around 30,000 entrepreneurs.
The region’s remarkable economic growth is driven by several key strategic sectors which have propelled its position as a competitive investment destination:
