Providing the Latest Learning Aids to Rural Areas

The empowerNCER – MyKasih programme is carried out in collaboration with MyKasih Foundation, via a completely private initiative, and aims to provide students in remote rural areas with access to the latest learning aids and facilities, as well as food assistance.

Eligible students are each provided with a RM60 monthly allowance via their MyKasih smartcards to make cashless purchases of food from their school canteens and stationery from their school bookstores. Their schools are also equipped with computer labs, robotics and aquaponics systems to enrich their learning experience. Extra-curricular activities such as sports, waste recycling initiatives and study camps are also supported.

This programme has helped improve school attendance among students and also spurred their interests in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. Due to this positive outcome, the empowerNCER-MyKasih component will be integrated into the empowerNCER – Academic programme.
