KULIM, July 1 — A total of 4,547 single mothers and housewives without fixed income in Kedah have been selected for the Kasih Ibu Darul Aman (KIDA) phase two financial aid programme.
Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the second phase would run for six months from today until the end of the year. The KIDA card would be handed over to the recipients in the next 14 days, starting today with Bandar Baharu district near here.
Under the first phase implemented in May 2019, 4,281 people were given the KIDA card, which can be used to purchase daily essential items worth RM250 a month. Recipients are also eligible to get health treatment at selected private clinics for the whole family, up to RM500 per year.
On another development, Muhammad Sanusi said the construction of a new bridge in Taman Serdang, to replace the one that collapsed in September 2018, was expected to be completed in June next year.
“Due to the MCO (Movement Control Order), the construction of the Taman Serdang bridge was rescheduled after being suspended for 84 days,” he said, adding that the construction cost remained at RM2.7 million.
